Dennis Oli and Matt Lawrence face Priestfield exits
The Gillingham careers of Matt Lawrence and Dennis Oli appear to be over after manager Andy Hessenthaler announced that neither player would be offered a new deal at the end of the season and that both could go out on loan.
After signing Oliver Lee on a month-long loan deal from West Ham last week, Hessenthaler is still mulling over possible deals for former Premier League players Jonathan Fortune and Rohan Ricketts, both of whom played for a Gills XI in a 5-4 defeat to Chelsea Reserves last week.
Hessenthaler told Gillingham’s website that deals for the pair could depend on clubs being found for Oli and Lawrence.
“Jon’s back in on Monday and we’ve said we might be able to do something and that might mean I have to let a couple go out on loan,” he said. “I’ve got to speak to Rohan’s agent but he’s a different type of player than we’ve got and he can get at people. But he will be in next week.”
