Brace yourself for the arrival of summer - with forecasters predicting soaring temperatures next week.

After four months of non-stop heavy rain, the Met Office says temperatures will tickle 30 degrees later this week in Kent.

A Met Office spokesman said: “It will be generally dry, very warm and increasingly muggy.”

Organisers of the Whitstable Oyster Festival will be hoping the weather improves. The start of the event was dogged by heavy showers this morning (Saturday).
