Lemn Sissay has been working with communities in Thanet to creat a poem for the Olympics. His work will be projected onto the Turner gallery tonight
A poem written by The Olympic poet Lemn Sissay is to be projected onto the side of the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate.
The verse inspired by communities in Margate, Minster and St Nicholas at Wade will also be performed by the poet at the event this evening.
Sissay has gathered thoughts, feelings and memories from people about the places they live. The event will also include music and dance.
Poetry Isle has been designed and delivered by Workers of Art in partnership with Community Development at Thanet District Council and Arts Council. The event will launch Thanet’s celebration of culture and heritage taking place throughout 2012.
The performance will be at the Turner Gallery at 7.30pm. The projection will continue until January 29.
