The leading contender in a hunt for the Ugliest Mug in Kent has kept a-breast of the competition for the last month.

Macmillan Cancer Support launched the search for the most quirky or bizarre drinking mug in the county at the end of July to kickstart its major fundraising event, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The Ugly Mug Amnesty, which is backed by KOS Media, aims to find the wackiest or most embarrassing mug lurking at the back of your cupboards.

After four weeks of the amnesty, the best Ugly Mug received is this ‘All The Breast Jimmy Jones’ mug sent in by Kurstie Long.

However, with the hunt still has another two weeks to run, so there’s still time to get your entries in.

When you’ve found your Ugliest Mug, take a photo of you holding it and email it to the address at the end of this story.

Also make sure you tell us if the drinking receptacle has an interesting history or funny story behind how it came into your possession.

Please try to make sure we can see the mug clearly in your photo and include your name, age, address, job and contact details.

The winner of the amnesty will receive a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning Mug from Macmillan Cancer Support and a £50 Coffee Gift Set from KOS Media.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s flagship fundraiser.

Now in its 19th year, it has become one of the biggest fundraising events in Britain – along with Children in Need, Red Nose Day and the Race for Life.

Macmillan asks the pubic to host or attend a coffee morning, with all donations going directly to those affected by cancer.

Supporters are encouraged to visit www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee to register and pick up fund-raising tips, or call 0845 602 1246. Make sure you enter the code RNA 10 so Macmillan know you are a KOS Media reader.

Last year the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raised £7.5 million and the target this year is more than £8 million nationwide.

But we are calling on all our readers to help make Kent the biggest fund-raiser in the country.

We’ll be holding a coffee morning for staff on September 25 and urge businesses across the county to join in too.

Macmillan has 120 health professionals active across Kent helping patients and their families deal with cancer.

Their support means people do not have to face harrowing ordeals on their own.

All entries into the Ugly Mug Amnesty must be received by Friday, September 11, with the winner announced in the Wednesday, September 16 midweek papers.

Send your entries by post to Jon Coates, KOS Media, Apple Barn, Hythe Road, Smeeth, TN25 6SR, or email them to jon.coates@kosmedia.co.uk
