KENT NEWS:
A Margate theatre charity is selling off a range of bizarre props, staging and costumes.
Items for sale include a life-size two-dimensional Tardis and a clock that tells the time backwards.
The Channel Theatre Trust, better known for its touring productions under the name of Chalkfoot, will hold a sale on Friday and Saturday, February 26-27.
The first day will be a private sale for amateur theatre companies, arts organisations and specialist dealers.
Phone 01843 280077 for an invitation (proof of affiliation to your company or group will be required).
Members of the public will be able to buy items from 10am to 4pm on Saturday.
All items must be paid for in cash and taken away on the day.
The doors of Central Studios, in Park Place behind Margate fire station, will open for the sale, with all proceeds going towards the theatre company’s work.
Artistic director Philip Dart hopes the items accumulated during the company’s 27-year history will go to good homes.
He said: “If you are a collector of the bizarre, a vintage fashion-lover, or an amateur drama company, we will hopefully have something for you.”
Other items include a polystyrene crocodile head, stage costumes and basketware horses’ heads.
Channel Theatre Trust has been in operation since 1983 and has been based in its present headquarters since 1998.
For details, phone 01843 280077 or email claudia@chalkfoot.org.uk.
Chalkfoot’s next appearance on the isle will be at Theatre Royal Margate when it brings back its acclaimed production The Riddle of the Sands on Sunday, March 28.
