Leroy Huggins is likely to start for Margate against Tooting & Mitcham United tonight after joining the Blues from VCD Athletic.
The striker becomes Iain O’Connell’s sixth signing as Gate manager and arrives at Hartsdown Park tasked with scoring the goals to stave off relegation from the Ryman Premier Division.
Huggins played for Maidstone United before joining VCD and captaining the Vickers to the Kent League title and promotion to Ryman North.
Having scored 11 goals from 34 appearances this season, he teams up with former Stones Lloyd Blackman and James Pinnock in Margate’s strikeforce.
The Blues have lost their last four games, all at home, and have suffered two 3-0 defeats in the past eight days, against Tonbridge Angels and Waltham Abbey.
Also on the move is Jason Dolby, who has quit Ramsgate to join his former team-mate, Aaron Firth, at VCD. Dolby had been a regular in Jim Ward’s side but the travelling to Thanet had proved too great an obstacle and he departs Southwood with Ramsgate floating in lower mid-table in Ryman South.
