Kent Green Party members have joined the campaign for British troops to be withdrawn from Afghanistan.
Green supporters from across the county will take part in a march in London on Saturday, converging on Hyde Park at noon before heading for Trafalgar Square.
Thousands of protestors are expected to join the march.
Party spokesman Steve Dawe said: “Public opinion is clearly against further British participation in the war in Afghanistan.
“Opinion polls offer figures such as 47 per cent against in July and 56 per cent against this month.
“The obvious corruption of the recent elections in Afghanistan shows how little has been achieved by the thousands of lives lost in this war and the £12 billion the British Government has spent so far.
“Sending more troops will just adding more tragedy to a long losing war strategy going back to 2001.
“Reconstruction and mediating between warring factions is the type of role British soldiers, administrators and charities could play in Afghanistan as they have long done in the former Yugoslavia, if requested by a legitimate Afghan Government.
“But the combination of warfare, a deeply corrupt Government elected in fraudulent elections, and fractured administration of essential services make Afghanistan a ‘failed state.’
“Afghanistan’s people need a negotiated peace and security provided as soon as possible by their own police and their own armed forces.”
